I-35 Capital Express South Project Plan – Onion Creek Parkway to north of SH 45 Southeast – Audio Transcript

As we head southbound, the entrance ramp, north of Onion Creek Parkway would be shifted, as you can see by the red hatching. For managed lane traffic, drivers would be able to enter the southbound managed lane north of Onion Creek Parkway. In this area, the southbound managed lanes would also drop from two to one. Onion Creek Parkway will crossover all lanes, and the southbound managed lanes would end around the Estancia development. The HOV lane will merge with the mainlanes, establishing four southbound lanes in this area. Eventually, the outside southbound mainlane would become an exit to Buda.

The orange highlighted area represents the I-35 mainlane bridge over Onion Creek. The South project would reconstruct and extend the bridge to accommodate drainage needs in the area and improve construction efficiencies.

It is important to note that the existing southbound entrance from Onion Creek Parkway would be reversed. This would reduce conflicts with traffic entering and exiting I-35, while enhancing safety for all users.
